Come and play golf with us in a friendly environment and get your own nationally accredited handicap! It doesn't cost an arm and a leg at SGC. In fact, for a once-off joining fee of $90 and only $90 per year, you can play regularly in a competition at Sandringham or elsewhere if you wish.

SGC is a private club that plays on the Sandringham Golf Links, a public course in the heart of Melbourne's renowned sand belt. We currently have a membership of about 230, and 60 to 70 of our members play regularly in our Saturday comp. The club fields teams each season in the Victorian Golf League pennant competitions. In 2011 we will be fielding teams in the Scratch Pennant, Handicap Pennant and Seniors Pennant competitions.

Members of our Club are able to get a nationally recognised handicap through the computerised system known as GolfLink.

GolfLink is a national handicapping network that operates at over 900 clubs across Australia. It enables members to turn up at any golf club at which they are eligible to play, verify their handicap, play a round and have their handicap updated automatically.

Having a nationally accredited handicap allows you to play in competitions at many courses throughout the country.

The green fee at Sandringham is currently (as at March 2011) $27 for 18 holes, and the competition fee is only $3. Another big advantage of membership is that, unlike being a member at a private course, if you don't play... you don't pay!

The booking sheet for weekend games is opened at 6am 10 days before the Saturday (that is on Wednesday a week and a half in advance). Bookings can be made by phone to the Sandringham Golf Links (9598 3590) and paid for by credit card.

Most of the Club's competition players hit off in the morning on Saturdays, to ensure that they can submit their card in time for it to be included in the competition. The competition entry sheet closes at 12.30pm EST and 1.30pm EDST.

We have an extensive range of events in our Saturday competition that includes stroke, stableford, par and four-ball events. Also, as affiliates of the governing bodies of golf in Victoria, the VGA, VGL and GolfLink, there are many Victorian golf events that SGC members may enter.

The Club is only too happy to guide new members through the Rules of Golf and assist them to learn golf etiquette.
